United. The research firm noted that Apple shipped 237.9 million iPhones last year, an all-time high.

Satellite emergency SOS service
The revolutionary new service will be included free for two years with iPhone 14. It will launch in November in the United States and Canada.
It connects your phone to a satellite network. There are places, like small winding roads, that cell towers don’t reach. Communications satellites – traveling hundreds of miles above Earth at thousands of miles an hour – are hard to reach, but they can offer a lifeline when you’re out of range of a tower cellular.
To overcome the technical challenges of reaching a satellite, Apple created custom components and software.
Connecting to a satellite network is only possible when the phone is pointed directly at a satellite. So Apple created a unique user experience that showed you had to point your phone to establish a connection. No bulky antenna is needed.
Apple also created a custom short-text compression algorithm to reduce average message size by a factor of three. Thanks to this algorithm, sending a message can take less than 15 seconds.
Once your message is transmitted to a ground station, it must reach the correct emergency service provider. Apple has set up relay centers, staffed with trained emergency specialists ready to receive your text.
This service can also be used in more casual and less serious circumstances. Use the “FindMy” app to manually share your satellite location.
